FairPoint Creditors Press Verizon For Merger Docs

Law360, New York (April 8, 2010, 11:22 AM EDT) -- Scenting potential causes of action, FairPoint Communications Inc.’s creditors are clamoring for Verizon Communications Inc. to cough up documents relating to the $2.3 billion landline deal that put FairPoint on the path to bankruptcy.

On Wednesday, FairPoint’s official committee of unsecured creditors urged Judge Burton R. Lifland of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York to force Verizon to produce documents detailing the 2008 spinoff and merger that left FairPoint severely overleveraged and unable to operate the 1.7 million landlines it acquired...
