Philips Wins ITC Ruling Over LED Patent

Law360, New York (January 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Things are looking bright for Philips Lumileds after an administrative law judge of the US International Trade Commission awarded it a favorable ruling in its current patent litigation against Taiwanese company Epistar Corp.

Philips first filed the complaint in 2005, alleging that Taiwan-based light-emitting diodes (LED) manufacturers Epistar Corp. and United Epitaxy Co. Ltd. had infringed on certain Philips patents regarding “wafer bonded Aluminium gallium indium phosphide (AlGalnP) LED products.”

The two Taiwanese companies merged soon after the suit was filed.
