Laidlaw Sues Rival Over Poached Workers, Clients

Law360, New York (April 12, 2010, 4:49 PM EDT) -- Investment bank Laidlaw & Co. UK Ltd. has sued Westminster Financial, and several employees who defected to Westminster, for allegedly poaching clients by telling Laidlaw customers that the bank was failing and pushing them to move their accounts.

Laidlaw lodged a complaint for breach of contract, defamation, unfair competition and tortious interference with economic and contractual relationships on Friday in the New York State Supreme Court against former employees Andrew Gelembyn, Leila Shuminer and Catherine Thomas and their current employer, Westminster.
