FDA Proposes Rules For Listing Side Effects In Ads

Law360, New York (April 13, 2010, 4:50 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has proposed new regulations for TV prescription drug ads, aiming to insure that information about potential side effects is presented in a “clear, conspicuous and neutral” manner.

In a noticed published in the Federal Register late last month, the FDA announced plans to set new standards for the clarity of drug ads as required by the Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act of 2007. The agency said it is soliciting comments on the proposal until June 28.
