Judge Rebuffs Challenge To Worker's Comp Law

Law360 (January 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Unmoved by labor unions’ arguments, a Missouri judge has upheld the state’s controversial workers' compensation law, revamped two years ago at the hands of the then newly elected Governor Matt Blunt.

On Tuesday, Judge Byron Kinder ruled against a slew of labor groups that had challenged the constitutionality of the law, closing another chapter in the bitter battle.

The war broke out in late 2005, after the Republican-led legislature, backed by Gov. Blunt, decided to overhaul the state’s workers’ compensation system.
