NRC Adds 14 Exemptions To Environmental Reviews

Law360, New York (April 19, 2010, 1:05 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Monday expanded the list of changes nuclear plant operators can undertake without undergoing a full environmental review.

According to a final rule published in the Federal Register and taking effect Monday, the 14 amendments expanded the NRC's standards for granting categorical exclusions to nuclear plant operators if the changes the operators are proposing present no “significant effect on the human environment.”
