Ex-Tenet GC Defeats Medicare False Claims Suit

Law360, New York (April 20, 2010, 3:54 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has thrown out a government lawsuit alleging the former general counsel of Tenet Healthcare Corp. violated the False Claims Act by signing off on millions of dollars of improper Medicare payments.

Judge Kenneth A. Marra of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida granted Christi Sulzbach's motion for summary judgment on Friday, saying the statute of limitations had expired. The ruling ends a legal dispute that goes back about a decade.
