Hospital Operator Settles With Uninsured For $423M

Law360 (January 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A superior court has approved a $423 million settlement for a class of uninsured patients who claimed hospitals in three states charged excessive medical fees.

Judge Richard A. Kramer signed off on the settlement Thursday in the San Francisco Superior Court, resolving a dispute between 760,000 uninsured patients and Catholic Healthcare West, a nonprofit company that manages 43 hospitals in California, Nevada and Arizona.
