Homebuilder Hovanian Fined $1M Over CWA Violations

Law360, New York (April 21, 2010, 1:44 PM EDT) -- Homebuilder Hovanian Enterprises Inc. has said it will pay a $1 million civil penalty to resolve allegations that it violated the Clean Water Act at construction sites across the country.

The company also agreed to put in place a company-wide storm water compliance program at existing and future sites, according to a consent decree lodged by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Justice on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
