Competitive Effects In Transgenic Seed Markets

Law360, New York (May 4, 2010, 1:44 PM EDT) -- As many are already aware, Monsanto is being investigated by the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division concerning Monsanto’s business practices in various markets for genetically engineered or “transgenic” seeds — specifically, corn, soybeans and cotton. Monsanto’s competitors and customers have alleged that Monsanto has monopolized these seed markets by engaging in a variety of anti-competitive acts.
