Lumenis To Pay Palomar $4.1M To Settle Patent Suit

Law360 (June 22, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Israel-based Lumenis Ltd. has agreed to pay rival Palomar Medical Technologies $4.1 million to settle a patent lawsuit over aesthetic laser devices.

In October 2002, Lumenis filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, seeking a declaration that Lumenis’ LightSheerDiode Laser System does not infringe claims in two Palomar patents (U.S. patents 5,595,568 and 5,735,844). Palomar countersued, accusing Lumenis of patent infringement.
