Jury Orders RJ Reynolds To Pay $46.3M To Fla. Widow

Law360, New York (April 22, 2010, 5:33 PM EDT) -- A Florida jury has hammered R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with a $46.3 million verdict, the latest in a string of big wins for plaintiffs who have sued tobacco companies over smokers' deaths.

Jurors in the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court in Gainesville, Fla., on Wednesday ordered R.J. Reynolds to pay the hefty sum to the widow of Frank Townsend, who died in June 1995, according to the plaintiff's attorney Greg Prysock of Morgan & Morgan PA.
