Judge Grants Varig 11th Injunction Extension

Law360, New York (January 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A bankruptcy judge on Wednesday extended troubled Brazilian airline Varig SA’s preliminary injunction, overruling an objection from a workers union and keeping U.S. creditors away from the company until March.

Varig’s foreign representative, Eduardo Zerwes, requested the extension to give the airline more time for to file motions for a permanent injunction. This is the eleventh time the court has granted an extension of the preliminary injunction, which was first issued in January 2006.
