PR Newswire Takes Beef With Nasdaq To Court

Law360, New York (January 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- PR Newswire has smacked the Nasdaq Stock Market Inc. with a trademark lawsuit, contending that the exchange is trying to profit off the established newswire by choosing a similar name for its new press release distributor.

On Thursday, PR Newswire filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District Court of New York, alleging that Nasdaq was deliberately attempting to “trade off the goodwill” associated with its name by calling its new service Prime Newswire, Reuters reported.
