California Commission Sued Over Nuclear Facility

Law360, New York (January 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- An environmental watchdog has launched a suit against California’s coastal regulators, claiming that they broke state laws by approving a project at a nuclear power facility without taking steps to prevent damage to the coast.

The Coastal Law Enforcement Action Network filed the civil suit Thursday in the San Francisco Superior Court, taking issue with the Coastal Commission’s decision in December to allow two steam generators at the Diablo Canyon nuclear power facility near San Luis Obispo to be replaced.
