Senate Panel Lambastes Mine Safety Missteps

Law360, New York (April 27, 2010, 4:32 PM EDT) -- On the eve of Workers Memorial Day, U.S. senators ripped the Mine Safety and Health Administration on Tuesday for not closing down for repeated safety violations mine operators such as Massey Energy Co., whose Upper Big Branch mine was rocked by an explosion April 5 that left 29 miners dead.
