DOI Approves 1st Offshore Wind Farm

Law360, New York (April 28, 2010, 3:04 PM EDT) -- The federal government has signed off on the first U.S. offshore wind farm, a fiercely debated project that would put 130 wind turbines off the coast of Massachusetts.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar approved the Cape Wind Associates LLC energy project in Nantucket Sound on Wednesday, but said the developer of the $1 billion wind farm must agree to binding measures to limit the potential adverse impacts of construction and operation of the farm.
