Investment Firm, Trustee Deals In Dreier Ch. 11 Nixed

Law360, New York (April 29, 2010, 2:07 PM EDT) -- A bankruptcy judge has rejected two linked settlement agreements that had laid to rest disputes involving an investment firm, the U.S. government and trustees in the Chapter 11 case of disbarred attorney Marc S. Dreier and his defunct law firm.

Judge Stuart M. Bernstein on Wednesday denied motions to approve the deals in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, saying the settlements were “reasonable” but the permanent injunction required by one of them exceeded his jurisdiction and had to be altered....
