ITC Won’t Trim Ricoh’s Printer Patent Case

Law360, New York (May 4, 2010, 12:37 PM EDT) -- A U.S. International Trade Commission administrative law judge has refused to clear two Oki Electric Industry Co. Ltd. units of allegations that they infringed one of several multifunction printer patents held by Ricoh Co. Ltd.

Administrative Law Judge Robert K. Rogers Jr. in a confidential order April 28 denied Japan-based Oki Data Corp. and New Jersey-based Oki Data Americas Inc.’s motion for summary determination that they did not violate Ricoh’s patent, U.S. Patent Number 6,212,343. Four similar patents are also asserted in Ricoh’s case.
