Bush Lauds Genetic Nondiscrimination Bill

Law360 (January 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- President Bush has called on Congress to greenlight a bipartisan genetic privacy bill that would prevent employers and insurance companies from exploiting genetic information.

During a tour of the National Institutes of Health on Wednesday, Bush said that if a person is willing to share his or her genetic information, it is important that that information not be misused, adding that Congress “can pass good legislation to prevent that from happening.

''We want medical research to go forward without an individual fearing personal discrimination,” Bush said....
