Union Sues Boss Ahead of Election

Law360, New York (January 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Members of one of Illinois’ most powerful unions claim they were forced to pay the boss $100 a week as part of a so-called salary kickback scheme.

Ostensibly created as a “Christmas” fund with the spoils to be shared equally, six members of Local 150 of the International Union of Operating Engineers allege the president kept the cash for himself.

The suit comes hot on the heels of two complaints filed by other union members in the past week accusing union treasurer Joe Ward of abuses...
