Refco Pays $145M In Fees In Ch. 11 Case

Law360, New York (January 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Refco Inc.’s bankruptcy proceedings were among the most expensive in history, with the futures broker paying $145.3 million to professionals who worked on the Chapter 11 case, records show.

The tab, which could climb even higher as the company continues to wind up the case and pay off creditors, included $40.3 million in fees for the month of December alone.

In the third interim period of the bankruptcy, the professionals retained in the case requested $23.6 million in fees and $4.2 million in expenses.
