HP Defendants Offered Plea Bargain

Law360, New York (January 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The California attorney general’s office has dangled plea deals in front of former Hewlett-Packard chair Patricia Dunn and four other defendants tied to the HP boardroom spying scandal.

Dunn and the four defendants, who are facing state allegations of felony, conspiracy and identity theft, have been offered a deal to plead guilty to a misdemeanor allegation, a source close to the case said Thursday.

But federal officials are moving forward with their own investigation, which may deter defendants from making a deal with prosecutors.
