Massey Legal Woes Could Mount, But In Time

Law360, New York (May 12, 2010, 5:52 PM EDT) -- With 29 of its miners dead and its safety record under serious scrutiny, Massey Energy Co. could be facing a crush of lawsuits, but the onslaught of litigation, if it materializes, will likely evolve over time, experts say.

Where April's other major industrial disaster — the explosion and sinking of a BP PLC-operated rig in the Gulf of Mexico — unleashed a flood of litigation, the deadly April 5 explosion at Massey's Upper Big Branch mine has caused barely a trickle.
