Chip Makers Duke It Out Over Patents

Law360 (January 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A microelectronics company filed a countersuit on Thursday against DuPont Air Products NanoMaterials LLC regarding a dispute in which each chip maker claims the other infringes its patents for semiconductor technology.

DA Nano sued Cabot Microelectronics Corp. on Dec. 8, seeking a declaratory judgment of non-infringement, invalidity and unenforceability.

DA Nano alleged that Cabot falsely claimed to own United States patents on several chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) slurries, used to make integrated-circuit devices for the semiconductor industry.
