Fed. Circ. Revives Casino Gaming Patent Spat

Law360, New York (May 11, 2010, 3:07 PM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has vacated a lower court's dismissal of a patent-holding company's infringement suit against casino machine makers SPEC International Inc. and Video Gaming Technologies Inc. over gaming patents, ruling that it was wrong to toss the case for lack of jurisdiction.

The district court erred in concluding that exercising personal jurisdiction over SPEC and VGT would be unreasonable and abused its discretion in denying jurisdictional discovery on that basis, a three-judge panel in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled...
