Atty Sees Friendly End To Kutak Rock Job Dispute

Law360, New York (May 11, 2010, 4:42 PM EDT) -- A former partner at Kutak Rock LLP who is suing the firm for assessing a $30,000 contractual penalty against him when he resigned said Tuesday that he was optimistic the dispute would be amicably resolved.

Paul F. Donsbach filed the suit on May 3 in California Superior Court in Los Angeles County. The suit alleges Kutak Rock violated state labor law by assessing the penalty, which amounted to an attempt by the firm to discourage lawyers from quitting and potentially joining competitors.
