Asics Hits Skechers With Another Trademark Suit

Law360, New York (May 17, 2010, 3:10 PM EDT) -- For the second time in three years, shoemaker Asics Corp. is seeking to stop Skechers USA from putting a stripe design on its shoes that Asics says infringes its trademarks and tricks consumers into thinking Skechers' shoes are actually made by Asics.

Asics filed the lawsuit May 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, identifying more than 60 types of Skechers shoes that allegedly infringe Asics' stripe trademarks, which the company has used since at least 1966.
