Nationwide Fixed-Pay Insurance Settlement OK'd

Law360, New York (May 19, 2010, 2:32 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has given initial approval to a settlement of a class action accusing Nationwide Life Insurance Co. of selling unauthorized fixed-indemnity medical insurance to over 1,000 people in Washington state.

Judge John C. Coughenour of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington signed off on a settlement on Monday that would give class members the option either to rescind the plan and have their premiums refunded or to opt for medical coverage with Nationwide that is lawful in Washington state....
