Judge Gives Go-Ahead To Case Against Microsoft

Law360 (January 23, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Spreadsheet Automation Corp.’s case alleging that Microsoft Corp.’s Excel and Access programs infringe on a patent it acquired from a Seattle inventor has survived the software giant’s bid for summary judgment.

U.S. District Judge David Folsom on Monday signed off on an order denying Microsoft’s Oct.10, 2006 motion for summary judgment, which argued that Spreadsheet Automation’s patent was invalid and not infringed.

Microsoft took Judge Folsom's ruling in stride.
