Stanford Asks To Leave Prison Pending Ponzi Trial

Law360, New York (May 19, 2010, 3:44 PM EDT) -- A lawyer for alleged Ponzi schemer Robert Allen Stanford asked a judge Wednesday to release his client from prison pending his trial in January, saying his incarceration has violated his constitutional rights and reduced him to a “wreck of a man.”

Robert S. Bennett of Bennett Nguyen Joint Venture filed the 52-page motion seeking Stanford's release Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
