US To Set Emissions Standards For Heavy Trucks

Law360, New York (May 21, 2010, 6:09 PM EDT) -- The White House on Friday announced that it would implement first-ever federal fuel efficiency standards for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, the latest in a series of moves by the Obama administration to reduce transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions.

President Barack Obama signed a memorandum Friday directing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Transportation to create the new policy, which would apply to trucks starting in model year 2014.
