Whistleblowing MD Gets $23.5M In Kickbacks Deal

Law360, New York (May 21, 2010, 6:25 PM EDT) -- A doctor who sued an Ohio hospital for defrauding federal health programs by awarding work to cardiologists based on how much revenue they brought into the hospital will receive $23.5 million as part of a broader $108 million settlement announced Friday.

The U.S. Department of Justice said The Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati and one of its former member hospitals, the Christ Hospital, agreed to the settlement, which brings to a close a long-running case in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio....
