Burger King Trims Franchise Claims Over $1 Value Item

Law360, New York (May 24, 2010, 5:55 PM EDT) -- Burger King Corp. has taken a bite out of a lawsuit brought by a group of franchises claiming the company's imposition of a $1 price tag on the double cheeseburger violates their franchise agreement.

In a mixed ruling Thursday, Judge K. Michael Moore of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida said Burger King has the right to dictate franchise pricing, but allowed claims that the ground beef baron acted in bad faith by mandating the price reduction.
