Doctors, L.A. County Resolve Benefits Dispute

Law360, New York (January 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Bringing a six-year legal dispute to an end for hundreds of doctors employed by the county of Los Angeles, the county board of supervisors has agreed to pay $10.1 million to the doctors after the board denied them benefits for joining a union.

About 670 doctors stand to collect $15,000 on average as part of the settlement approved Tuesday by the board in a closed session, according to Joe Bader, regional administrator for the Union of American Physicians and Dentists of Southern California (UAPD).
