UK Regulator Reprimands Kraft On Cadbury Deal

Law360, New York (May 27, 2010, 12:22 PM EDT) -- A U.K. merger regulator has formally reprimanded Kraft Foods Inc. for vowing to keep a Cadbury PLC production plant open then backing out of that promise once it finalized its $19 billion takeover of the British confectioner.

The U.K.’s Panel on Takeovers and Mergers said Wednesday that Kraft should not have made statements about Cadbury’s Somerdale plant before it had all the facts about Cadbury’s plans to close down the facility and move its operations to a new plant in Poland.
