Northeast Fisheries Threaten Endangered Whales: Suit

Law360, New York (May 28, 2010, 2:44 PM EDT) -- The Humane Society of the United States has hit the National Marine Fisheries Service with a suit alleging the continued operation of four federal fisheries off the coast of New England threaten the lives of endangered whales.

The Humane Society, along with nonprofit Defenders of Wildlife, filed suit Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, accusing the U.S. government of violating the Endangered Species Act by allowing fisheries to operate that continue to entangle three endangered whale species in the North Atlantic....
