Telecoms Kill Blocked €1.5B Orange-Sunrise Merger

Law360, New York (June 3, 2010, 2:20 PM EDT) -- France Telecom SA announced Thursday it has dropped its plans to pursue a €1.5 billion ($2.3 billion) merger between its Orange Communications SA unit and Sunrise Communications SA because the deal was rejected by Swiss antitrust regulators in April.

France Telecom and Sunrise's Danish parent company TDC AS said in a joint statement they had completed an analysis of their options in the wake of the Swiss Competition Commission's April 22 decision not to approve the deal and had decided to terminate the merger agreement....
