Ala. Insurer Liable For Misbilled Cancer Benefits

Law360, New York (June 4, 2010, 2:41 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has granted summary judgment on liability to a class of plaintiffs who allege Life Insurance Co. of Alabama breached a contract to pay benefits for cancer treatment.

Judge Joseph F. Anderson Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina ruled Wednesday that Life of Alabama breached contracts with policyholders by paying lower benefits to cancer patients than were due under the policy.
