Asbestos Claims Send EnPro's Garlock Into Bankruptcy

Law360, New York (June 7, 2010, 12:56 PM EDT) -- Fluid sealing products manufacturer Garlock Sealing Technologies LLC has filed for bankruptcy in an effort to resolve asbestos-related personal injury claims against the company.

Garlock, a subsidiary of EnPro Industries Inc., filed for Chapter 11 protection Saturday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of North Carolina to establish a trust to resolve all asbestos claims against the company under Section 524(g) of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

Garlock, which previously manufactured gasket sealing products that contained asbestos, has faced asbestos-related lawsuits for 35 years...
