Claims Pruned For 3rd Bayer Rice Bellwether Trial

Law360, New York (June 8, 2010, 3:35 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has narrowed the claims of Louisiana farmers seeking to hold Bayer CropScience AG liable for contamination of the U.S. rice supply in a bellwether case slated for trial this month in the genetically modified rice litigation.

Judge Catherine D. Perry of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri on Monday tossed claims for per se negligence, private and public nuisance, and violations of the North Carolina Unfair Trade Practices Act.
