Marathon Hit With Class Action Over Gas Royalties

Law360, New York (June 10, 2010, 3:30 PM EDT) -- A federal court has certified class actions against Marathon Oil Co. and Kaiser-Francis Oil Co. accusing them of breaching their contracts by failing to pay adequate royalties on natural gas to individuals in Oklahoma who own mineral rights.

Tens of thousands of Oklahomans could qualify for the classes, which received certification Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.
