GE Recalls 181,000 Washers For Fire, Shock Risk

Law360, New York (June 10, 2010, 3:05 PM EDT) -- General Electric Co. is pulling roughly 181,000 front-loading washing machines from the market due to potential fire and shock hazards, the company and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Thursday.

A wire can break in the affected machines and make contact with a metal part on the washtub while the machine is operating, posing fire and shock hazards to consumers, the CPSC said.
