Obama Exempts 'Grandfathered' Plans From Overhaul

Law360, New York (June 15, 2010, 1:06 PM EDT) -- Employer-sponsored health plans that existed before the health care overhaul will be exempt from some of its provisions as long as they don't slash benefits, the White House has said.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced the rule on “grandfathered” group plans Monday, touting it as a measure to make good on President Barack Obama's promise to allow consumers to keep the health insurance plans that they like.
