Insurer Wants Out Of $20M Sears Fridge Class Action

Law360, New York (June 15, 2010, 6:00 PM EDT) -- Columbia Mutual Insurance Co. is seeking to avoid responsibility for a class action that could cost Sears Roebuck & Co. $20 million for improperly installing waterlines for refrigerator ice makers and water dispensers.

Columbia filed its complaint Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, saying a policy it issued for a Sears contractor who installed the waterlines excludes defense and indemnity coverage for the lawsuit.
