Myriad Appeals Invalidation Of Human Gene Patents

Law360, New York (June 17, 2010, 1:29 PM EDT) -- In a move widely expected by patent lawyers and health care experts, Myriad Genetics Inc. has appealed a federal judge's landmark ruling invalidating seven patents for isolated human genes.

Myriad and the University of Utah Research Foundation, the patents' co-owner, lodged a notice of appeal Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, announcing their intent to take the case to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
