Scripps Hits MiBook With Copyright Infringement Suit

Law360, New York (June 21, 2010, 3:58 PM EDT) -- Scripps Networks LLC has launched an infringement suit against miBook LLC, saying the maker of the miBook digital device liquidated his old company and formed a new one so he could continue using copyrighted material from Scripps-owned networks like the Food Network and Home & Garden TV without payment or permission.

Both miBook and the firm's principal, Bruce Teicher, illegally used material from the networks after Teicher's previous venture, Photoco, fell on hard times and stopped paying royalties, according to a complaint filed Friday in U.S....
