Magnequench Sues Microsoft, Philips Over Magnetic Patents

Law360, New York (July 14, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A U.S. maker of magnetic powders and magnets has sued U.S. software maker Microsoft and Dutch electronics maker Philips over patents for media memory systems such as CD-ROMs and DVDs.

Magnequench International filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Indianapolis, alleging patent infringement of its magnetic powders.

The alleged patent infringement centers on Microsoft's XBOX and Philips products that include CD-ROMs and DVD-ROMs, according to Magnequench.
