EU Fines Bollore €21M For Role In Paper Cartel

Law360, New York (June 23, 2010, 6:59 PM EDT) -- The European Commission renewed its decision Wednesday to penalize French manufacturing giant Bollore SA for its role in a carbonless-paper cartel, hitting the company with a €21.3 million ($26.2 million) fine.

The antitrust watchdog re-adopted its previous 2001 decision — which fined Bollore and nine other companies a total of €313.7 million for agreeing to fix prices and divvy up the carbonless paper market — but decreased the penalty by €1.4 million because the company cooperated with the commission on the new decision.
