House Panel To Subpoena BP Over Spill Payouts

Law360, New York (June 23, 2010, 4:11 PM EDT) -- A panel of the U.S. House of Representatives has given the green light to a bill that will give President Barack Obama's bipartisan oil spill commission the authority to subpoena BP PLC over information related to the company's claims process for compensating victims of the spill.

The legislation was unanimously approved by a voice vote in the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, a spokesman for the committee confirmed to Law360.
